How do I prepare the soil?.

Although hydroseeding can be performed on virtually any type of soil surface there, there are a few things that can be done to optimize the germination rate.  Many people have existing lawns that are just very thin and have very little grass in the mix.  Many times for this scenario the best course of action is to use a power rake or regular rake and remove as much thatch as possible to maximize seed to soil contact. We can then spray directly over the existing grass.

Many new construction homes that has never had grass planted or if the weeds are too abundant it is better to completely remove all vegetation and start over.

  • Remove rocks or debris
  • rake or till the soil
  • After tilling the soil it is a good idea to use a herbicide such as round-up to kill any weeds that pop up after you have disturbed the soil.
